Uttam believes that humans are the most beautiful creation of God. Their myriad of expressions, their joys, sorrows, and their dreams always fascinates him, intrigues him and fills his mind with wonder and awe. Through his painting, Uttam tries to capture this fascination in his own way. In his paintings, he intentionally deviates from the realistic portrayal of figures to capture and bring to life their world of dreams, agonies, and ecstasies in his canvas.
Uttam takes help of Charcoal to capture their pain and bright color over it to capture their dreams and their hopes of finding endless possibilities within despair and deep trouble. Through his painting he always tries to portray the rhythm of life- brightness in the middle of impregnable dark, joy during sorrow and hope amidst desperation.
